Abia State governor, Alex Otti, has joined the candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata, to campaign ahead of the September 21 governorship election stating the party can repeat Abia victory.
Otti against all odds won the 2023 governorship election in Abia State under the Labour Party just under a year in which he alongside the former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi joined the party.
They rallied the masses especially the youth who keyed into their vision for the country.
Otti, while speaking in Igbo said that the feat in Abia could be repeated if the people vote and wait to protect their votes.
Speaking on Thursday in a text obtained by NewsNGR, Otti emphasised the importance of the election in the state and urged voters to protect their votes.
โThough the party may not have the guns and ammunition to win the election, we have the voters to deliver our chosen candidate for the people of the state,โ he said.
According to him, heโs in Edo โto appeal to you. You are all our people.
โI told Akpata that there is no need to preach to the converted. We have already converted you, and now itโs time for us to convert others,โ he said.
He pointed out that, โThis election will make a difference in Edo State. It is an election for the people. So, the charge I want to give you is that when you vote on that day, remain at your polling booth and do not leave.
โThat is how we did it in Abia State. For 48 to 72 hours, nobody sleeps.โ
He added, โI used to tell our people that we have a saying, โThe rat does not eat something when the owner is awake.โ
โSo, you should not sleep. If it is about the votes, we will have the votes; if it is about winning, we will win. We will not allow any rat to steal our victory.โ
Akpata, while welcoming Otti to the state, remarked that the Abia State governor was in Benin to speak to the people of the state, not just the party faithful.
He added, โJesus Christ said He did not come for the saved but for the lost.โ
