The Governor-elect of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has said he would transform the state to an enviable height when he assumes office.
Senator Okpebholo was declared winner of the 2024 Edo governorship election on Sunday, beating the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), Asue Ighodalo and Olumide Akpata respectively.
While addressing the press on Sunday evening after he was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of last Saturday’s governorship election, Okpebholo stated that Edo is back again.
He added that he would bring back the former governor Adams Oshiomhole’s days in Edo. He said he would replicate what Senate President, Godswill Akpabio did in Akwa Ibom State as governor in Edo.
The Governor-elect said, “I am very happy and I thank Edo people for choosing the right person to do the job. Look, the new Edo is rising. I am here to develop Edo. I want to transform Edo the way it should be. I want to tell you that I am starting from where Adams Oshiomhole stopped. And I want to let you also know that I would like to imitate what Akpabio has done in Akwa Ibom State. Edo has received a new transformation. By the grace of God, Edo is back again.”
