Ember Months: FRSC Sensitises Nasarawa Drivers On Safety Measures

Motorists in Nasarawa State were Wednesday warned against violations of traffic rules which could lead to road mishaps, especially in the 2024 ember months.

The advice was given by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Nasarawa State Command, while carrying out the exercise at some strategic locations of the state.

The Sector Commander, CC Lucie Samuel-Mhii, told newsmen that the primary focus of the road show, with the theme, โ€œenlightened to stay aliveโ€, was to raise awareness regarding commutersโ€™ safety during the ember months.

She said this yearโ€™s ember month initiative centred on commuter safety, adding that it โ€œtargets commutersโ€™ engagement in road safety by encouraging them to adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations; utilize seat belts and ensure all passengers do the same.โ€

According to her, โ€œDrivers should avoid distractions while driving, including mobile phone usage. Passengers and indeed all road users should have it as a duty to report hazardous road conditions and unsafe driving behaviours to relevant authorities.โ€

CC Mhii further urged drivers to always maintain passengersโ€™ manifests in all trips for easy traceability in cases of emergencies.

She assured of the commandโ€™s preparedness to tackle Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) throughout the ember months, particularly within Nasarawa State.

NewsNGR reports that the event commenced at the Sector Command and traversed through Lafia, starting from Makurdi Road, moving to Jos Road, and concluding at the Yahaya Sabo Bus Terminal and Central Motor Park respectively.
