Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has described the reinstatement of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, as one of the most significant events in his life.
El-Rufai made this statement on Wednesday in Kano during the Arewa Tech Fest, a gathering of political and technology leaders aimed at advancing Northern Nigeria.
Expressing his deep appreciation for Sanusi’s return to the throne, El-Rufai said, “The reinstatement of His Highness is one of the most important events in my life, and I want to congratulate you once again.”
The fest, which attracted key figures such as Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Katsina State Governor Dr. Dikko Radda, and Zamfara State Governor Dr. Dauda Lawal, highlighted El-Rufai’s sense of personal achievement in Sanusi’s return.
Sanusi, controversially dethroned in 2020 by the former Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has remained a focal point of public debate since his removal. For El-Rufai, the reinstatement is not only a personal triumph but also a renewal of Northern Nigeria’s traditional leadership.
“This reinstatement marks a moment of vindication and renewal for Northern Nigeria’s traditional leadership,” El-Rufai added.
