The Governor of Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Eno, has tasked the newly-elected state executive committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to aim at conquering new territories and expanding the umbrella to accommodate more people through their people-centric service.
The governor gave the charge while addressing the State Party Congress, where the new executive of the party was elected, at Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday.
He congratulated the re-elected chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, and his executive for their successful election and urged them to surpass the strides of the previous executive.
Eno, who is the leader of the party in Akwa Ibom, assured that he would continue to lead the state with integrity and honesty, adding that his administration would remain responsive and responsible while continuing to galvanise the youths as well as other Akwa Ibomites to arise.
He lauded the hard work and diligent service of the immediate past party exco for leading the party to victory in various elections during their tenure.
Eno particularly thanked his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, for providing the needed leadership that led to his emergence as governor.
The governor also appreciated the ex-governor for taking part in the congress, as well as representatives from the National Secretariat and the Congress Organising Committee, led by Engr. Uwem Okoko, for what he described as a well-organised congress.
While noting that the exercise marked a new dawn for the party, he called on all party faithful to give the new exco the necessary support to succeed in the tasks ahead, especially in the October 5 local government election.
Meanwhile, other officers elected alongside Elder Aniekan Akpan, are Harrison Ekpo, Deputy Chairman; Ibanga Brownson, Secretary; and Augustine Akpan, Inemesit Itina, and Barr. Ekpong Edemumoh as Vice Chairmen I, II, and III.
Also in the new exco are: Mmeme Akpabio, Effiong Emah, Emmanuel Mbong, Edwin Ebiese, Barr. Ekemini Uba, Andy Ekitok, Inibehe Silas, and Ubong Effiong, as Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Organising Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Legal Adviser, Auditor, Woman Leader, and Youth Leader, respectively, among others.
