FORMER President Goodluck Jonathan has denied suspending former Central Bank Governor, Dr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, over allegations of $49.8 billion missing from the governmentโs coffers.
Jonathan made this statement at the launch of the book โPublic Policy and Agents Interests: Perspectives from the Emerging Worldโ in Abuja, where he claimed Sanusi was not sacked but suspended due to financial recklessness and misconduct.
โThe one he raised that he was sacked because he blew a whistle that the Federal Government lost $49.8bn is not quite correct. He was not sacked. He was suspended because the Financial Reporting Council queried the expenditure of the CBN,โ Jonathan said.
Sanusi countered Jonathanโs claims, stating he was โconstructively dismissedโ and maintained his stance on the missing funds.
โI was constructively dismissed. I continue to respect Jonathan and I donโt have grudges against anyone,โ Sanusi said.
