Labour Party Rep Distributes Fertilisers To Enugu Constituents To Aid Farming

The member representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Chidi Mark Obetta, has distributed about 600 bags of fertiliser to farmers of his constituency to ensure food security and promote agriculture in the area.

Hon Obetta during the flag-off of the distribution, which took place at his constituency office located along Enugu road in Nsukka, said that the fertilisers were directly purchased from the factory to certify that โ€œthey are genuine and the best for the farmers in the constituency.โ€

Quoting him, โ€œI am doing this because one of the greatest needs of the people is food and one of the major professions of our people is farming.

โ€œIf we can facilitate and improve an increment in food production, it will go a long way in ameliorating the shortage of food in our constituency and beyond.โ€

Some of the farmers, who spoke with NewsNGR, expressed joy over the gesture. One of them said, โ€œThis is a practical demonstration of democratic dividends.

โ€œA bag of fertilisers now sells at about N48, 000. It is not affordable at all. We are being told to return to farms. Without fertilisers, it will be wasted effort.

โ€œHon Obetta has done well. We want empowerment in the form of agro products, inputs and tools. We donโ€™t want indomie empowerment any longer.โ€

NewsNGR reports that Obetta is of the Labour Party.
