According to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), the enforcement operations took place in areas such as Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland. This action is part of the agencyโ€™s ongoing efforts to enforce compliance with environmental laws and safeguard public health.

LASEPA stated on Wednesday, saying: โ€œIn a decisive step towards tackling noise pollution and other environmental violations, LASEPA sealed off multiple establishments across various parts of Lagos State. Among the closed establishments are Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, Celestial Church of Christ, a printing press, Charleyโ€™s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites. These businesses were found guilty of violating environmental regulations despite several warnings from LASEPA.โ€

The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, reiterated the agencyโ€™s zero-tolerance policy toward non-compliance with environmental laws, stating: โ€œWe will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations.โ€ He urged businesses to recognize their environmental responsibilities and work with the state government to create a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos.

This enforcement action comes less than two weeks after LASEPA sealed Donaldโ€™s Lounge, a 24-hour fast-food restaurant owned by popular Instagram celebrity Pascal Okechukwu, aka Cubana Chief Priest.

State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, explained that Donaldโ€™s Lounge, located along Adebayo Doherty Street in Lekki Phase 1, was closed due to excessive noise pollution. Wahab noted that the action was taken after the restaurant repeatedly ignored warnings from the agency.
