Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has made history by breaking her own World Record in the women’s over 86kg Para-Powerlifting category, lifting an impressive 166kg.
This surpasses her previous record of 165kg and earns her a gold medal, adding to Nigeria’s Paralympics medal tally, which now stands at seven.
Oluwafemiayo’s remarkable achievement highlights her dominance in the sport and underscores Nigeria’s strength in the Paralympic Games.
In additional successes for Nigeria, Flora Ugwunwa secured a silver medal in the Women’s Javelin F54 category with a notable throw of 19.26 meters, showcasing her skill in a highly competitive event.
Bose Omolayo also contributed to Nigeria’s medal haul, lifting 145kg in the Women’s 79kg Para-Powerlifting category to win a silver medal.
Furthermore, Isau Ogunkunle earned a bronze medal in the Men’s Singles Class 4 Para Table Tennis event, becoming the first Nigerian to win an individual medal in Para Table Tennis since the Sydney 2000 Games.
