The national coordinator of the Take It Back (TIB) Movement, Juwon Sanyaolu, has proposed a virtual meeting with the Lagos State Police Command.
NewsNGR, on Tuesday, reported that Sanyaolu, a human rights activist, received a letter dated September 24, 2024, signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Jaiyeoba Idowu Joseph of the State Intelligence Department, Lagos State Police Command.
The letter invited him to meet with the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Ishola.
The meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, with Sanyaolu and members of his executive team expected to attend.
However, in a letter seen on Wednesday, the TIB Movement proposed a virtual meeting instead of the requested in-person meeting. The group cited the short notice and the unavailability of key members as reasons for this adjustment.
“Regrettably, due to the short notice and the fact that several key members of the Take It Back Movement are currently out of Lagos State, attending the physical meeting scheduled for tomorrow, 25th September 2024, may be impracticable.
“In light of this, we respectfully propose a virtual meeting as an alternative, as this would enable all necessary participants to join remotely and contribute productively to the discussions,” the organization stated through its legal representative, Inibehe Effiong.
The letter added, “If a physical meeting is essential, we would be pleased to reschedule for another date in early October 2024, when all team members will be available. Please confirm your preference.”
The Take It Back Movement was one of the organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protest, which took place nationwide in August.
On June 11, Sanyaolu was arrested by security agents in Lagos, just a day before the June 12 Democracy Day protest. He was released two days later from the Ikeja headquarters of the Lagos State Police Command.
