The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to recent statements made by Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Wikeโs remarks during the PDP state congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday, where he warned other PDP governors to refrain from interfering in Rivers Stateโs party affairs, prompted a stern reaction from the partyโs leadership.
Wike had declared, โLet me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of the PDP from us. But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody,โ and issued a warning to other governors to โput fire in their states.โ
In response, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba addressed the issue at a press conference in Abuja. He emphasized that no individual holds supremacy over the party, stating, โWhat I can tell you is that nobody is above this party. It is the Peopleโs Democratic Party.โ
Ologunagba also highlighted that the party has established reconciliation and disciplinary committees to address internal disputes.
โWe will wait for their report,โ he added, underscoring the partyโs commitment to resolving issues through its established processes.
