PDP Draws the Line: No One is Above This Party, Confronts Wike Over Control Dispute

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to recent statements made by Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Wikeโ€™s remarks during the PDP state congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday, where he warned other PDP governors to refrain from interfering in Rivers Stateโ€™s party affairs, prompted a stern reaction from the partyโ€™s leadership.

Wike had declared, โ€œLet me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of the PDP from us. But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody,โ€ and issued a warning to other governors to โ€œput fire in their states.โ€

In response, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba addressed the issue at a press conference in Abuja. He emphasized that no individual holds supremacy over the party, stating, โ€œWhat I can tell you is that nobody is above this party. It is the Peopleโ€™s Democratic Party.โ€

Ologunagba also highlighted that the party has established reconciliation and disciplinary committees to address internal disputes.

โ€œWe will wait for their report,โ€ he added, underscoring the partyโ€™s commitment to resolving issues through its established processes.
