The State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Taraba State has announced the formation of a reconciliation Committee.
The aim, as outlined in the statement released to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, on Tuesday, is geared towards resolving internal party grievances.
Signed by the party spokesperson, Andetaโrang Iremea, the move, according to the party, is part of the efforts to strengthen party unity and address issues that have caused division among members.
โThe committee is expected to mediate and find solutions to conflicts within the party, ensuring that all concerns are addressed in preparation for future political activities, โ the statement read.
The committee, which is headed by Senator Zik Ambuno Sunday, has Alhaji Abdulrazaq Musa, Magaji Joseph Tahwa, Abbas Kaura, Simon Dogari, and Tina Musa, as members.
Others are, Aminu Jika, Oliver Suleiman, Kabiru Jalo, John Mamman, Jonah J. Kataps, Azumi Adamu, Alhaji Mohammed Abana, Julius Taro Bitako, Mohammed Idi, and Lawal Abdulkarim, as secretary.
Peace has eluded the party since its last state congress following the alleged imposition of the former Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, Lois Emmanuel, as the partyโs women leader.
The action continues to tear the party apart, according to a chieftain of the party who spoke to DAILY POST on condition of anonymity.
โThis has become necessary because we urgently want to put our house in order before the next general election which will by Godโs grace take place in 2027, โ he said.
