PDP Suspends Dino Melaye For Alleged Anti-Party Activity

The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended former Senator, Dino Melaye, who represented Kogi West in the 8th senate for anti-party activity.

Melaye was suspended by the PDP exco in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1.

He had earlier been invited to appear before a disciplinary committee set up to investigate alleged anti-party activities levelled against him but the former senator refused to honour the summons.

The Ward party executive committee took the resolution to suspend the former senator during a meeting in Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1 on Friday after the report of the disciplinary committee was reviewed.

The resolution was signed by the Ward Chairman, Abayomi Osamika and Ward Yodson Dayo, Secretary.

The resolution sighted by NewsNGR reads: โ€œSenator Dino Melayeโ€™s conduct has brought embarrassment and disrepute to the party and his continued membership is no longer tenable.

โ€œTherefore, the Ward party exco hereby suspends Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic party, effective and immediately.

โ€œThe suspension is in line with provisions of Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution which empowers the Ward party excos to take disciplinary actions against erring members.โ€

The former senator ran into trouble after accusing the acting National Chairman of the party, Iliya Damagum; the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, of destroying the party.

He stated on X/Twitter a few weeks ago saying, โ€œEnd of the road for PDP as Damagum, Bature and Anyanwu, irredeemably destroyed the party.

โ€œWe will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time,โ€ he had said.
