THE Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang has reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing claims that he is defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A viral post on social media, featuring an electronic banner with the governorโs image, suggested his move to the APC.
However, in a statement, the Governorโs Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, called the claim misleading.
He emphasized that the governor remains loyal to the PDP and the people of Plateau State, who elected him in the 2023 elections under the partyโs platform.
โThis deliberate falsehood, concocted by certain individuals and promoted by troublemakers, seeks to drive a wedge between the governor, the PDP leadership, and his supporters in Plateau State,โ the statement said.
โAlthough this baseless rumour hardly deserves a formal response, it is necessary to correct any misinformation that could mislead the public and protect the governorโs reputation.โ
Governor Mutfwang noted that the people of Plateau State view the PDP as their trusted platform for governance, and the notion of his defection to the APC is completely unfounded.
He urged the public to โignore the actions of those whose sole objective is to damage the governorโs image for their personal political advantage. Governor Mutfwang has not authorized anyone to create or circulate such a banner, and he remains firmly committed to the PDP and the people of Plateau State.โ
The governorโs aide stressed that the fabricated story was the work of those with ill intentions for the state, aimed at causing division within the PDP and among the people of Plateau State who had entrusted the governor with leadership.
