The Presidency has refuted the publication of President Bola Tinubu issuing directives to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Olayemi Cardoso to resign.
The reports had claimed that President Tinubu dismissed Cardoso due to his ineffectiveness in strengthening Nigeria’s currency, ‘the naira’, and addressing the biting economy.
Reacting to the suspicious claims, on Tuesday, in a brief remark, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, debunked the statement as untrue.
“It’s all lies. President Tinubu has not asked Yemi Cardoso to resign,” Onanuga noted.
