Revealed: Zlatan led AC Milan’s failed bid to Napoli for Osimhen

AC MILAN made a late move, inspired by the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli before he joined Galatasaray on loan, it has been revealed.

Italian outlet Area Napoli reported today that Milan contacted their Serie A rivals looking to do a deal for the Super Eagles striker.

Osimhen was linked with several clubs but he ended up with a loan move to Turkish giants Galatasaray after the main European transfer window shut in late August.

Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Saudi Peofessional Football League side, Al Ahli, were all said to be interested in the 25-year-old.

Despite the decision by Napoli not to sell Osimhen to any club in Serie A, Milan were said to have communicated their interest to the 2022/2023 Serie A champions.

“Milan, on the initiative of Zalatan Ibrahimovic, director of the Rossoneri, asked Napoli for information on Victor Osimhen,” the Italian outlet claimed.

“The Nigerian did not give a categorical no, the striker evaluated all the proposals with extreme interest despite having put the Premier League at the top of his preferences.

“The negotiations between Napoli and Milan for Osimhen never officially started.

“Aurelio De Laurentiis, still smarting from the Higuain affair (who left anyway due to a clause also valid for Italy), would never have strengthened a direct competitor for the Scudetto.”

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in September 2020 for around €80m and made 133 appearances for them, registering 76 goals and 18 assists before his loan move this month.
