Rivers Inaugurates Committee Against Flooding

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has constituted a 9-man Flood Prevention and Management Committee to tackle the pressing issue of flooding in the state.

The Committee which comprises top government officials, will be chaired by the Deputy Governor, Prof Ngozi Nma Odu.

According to a statement by the State Commissioner of Information and Communications, Joe Johnson, the committee members include Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Wenike Danagogo; Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Chief Ilanmi Arugu; Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Engr Charles Amadi; Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr Sam Anya, and Commissioner for Special Projects, Dr. Roland Obed-Whyte.

Additionally, Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, and Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Sydney Gbara, are also part of the committee.

The committee held its inaugural meeting on Monday, September 23, at the Deputy Governorโ€™s Office in Government House, Port Harcourt.

The next meeting is scheduled for Friday at 2 pm, with the CTC Chairmen of the 18 impacted Local Government Areas in attendance.

Johnson said the proactive measure demonstrates Governor Fubaraโ€™s commitment to addressing the concerns of Rivers State citizens, ensuring their safety and well-being.
