Tinubu appoints Amachree as director of energy security

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has appointed Ojukaye Flag Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

The announcement was made by Zakari Mijinyawa, the Head of Strategic Communications at ONSA. He stated that this appointment reflects the governmentโ€™s dedication to ensuring a stable, sustainable, and secure energy supply for the nation.

The statement emphasized that this initiative highlights President Tinubuโ€™s commitment to enhancing energy security and resolving supply chain challenges.

โ€œIn his new capacity, Amachree will be responsible for overseeing critical national energy security initiatives aimed at improving energy security and fostering community involvement in protecting Nigeriaโ€™s energy resources, ensuring both short-term and long-term sustainability,โ€ the statement indicated.

The National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, conveyed his congratulations to Hon. Flag Amachree upon his appointment.

In his role, Amachree will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government ministries, security agencies, energy sector regulators, international partners, and community leaders, to develop solutions to Nigeriaโ€™s energy issues.

According to the statement, Amachree holds degrees in Management and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, making him well-suited to lead this vital unit.

The newly established Energy Security Directorate within ONSA will focus on coordinating policies, safeguarding critical infrastructure, managing data, providing security coordination, offering risk advisory services, and cultivating strategic partnerships within Nigeriaโ€™s energy sector.
