Tinubu Meets With King Charles At Buckingham Palace

President Bola Tinubu held a private meeting with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace in London, UK.

This was revealed in a statement on Thursday by the Presidentโ€™s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The meeting underscored the longstanding and valued relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

โ€œBoth leaders discussed global and regional matters of shared priority, focusing on the urgent and complex challenge of climate change,โ€ the statement said.

โ€œPresident Tinubu and His Majesty also explored opportunities for collaboration in anticipation of the upcoming COP 29 Summit in Azerbaijan and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa.โ€

President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeriaโ€™s strong commitment to tackling climate change in a way that aligns with the nationโ€™s energy security goals, while also expressing the countryโ€™s willingness to embrace global sustainability strategies.

โ€œDuring their dialogue, the two leaders shared ideas for innovative approaches to climate financing and funding, expressing mutual interest in strengthening partnerships by harnessing Nigeriaโ€™s leadership position in Africa and the Commonwealth.

โ€œThis will be the two leadersโ€™ first meeting since they met in Dubai at the COP 28 Climate Summit last year. The latest meeting was at the Kingโ€™s request,โ€ Onanuga said.
