The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has said that Dangote Petroleum Refinery Ltd has not notified petroleum marketers that it has commenced loading of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
IPMAN President, Abubakar Maigadi said this during an interview monitored by NewsNGR.
Maigadi made the comment following the official unveiling of PMS production by the Chairman of the firm, Aliko Dangote.
“Our PMS (Premium Motor Spirit) can be in filling stations within the next 48 hours depending on NNPCL,” Dangote said.
But IPMAN said they have not been notified by the firm.
The IPMAN president said that the association accounts for 85 per cent of Nigeria’s retail outlets, but they have not been officially notified by the Dangote Refinery.
Maigadi said, “If Dangote has started loading, actually we really appreciate it because we know by the time he starts supplying the product, the product will be available.
“We, the independent petroleum marketers, have almost 85 per cent retail outlet in the country. So, anybody that brought business, definitely we are going to participate fully if at all he want his business to be patronized. So we are waiting for him to start. Then we can carry our offer to him to see how he can partner with us.
“Still, we didn’t make any arrangements because we didn’t get the notice that he had started. So, all that I know, our main source of supply, just like what I tell you, is NNPC retail because they are the sole importer presently.”
He explained that the reason why there are still queues in filling station is that marketers are waiting for Depot and Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPMAN) to release their new prices.
He said, “It was yesterday, September 3, 2024, that we received the information about the change in price. That is from the normal price that we have been selling and they have added N250 per liter.
“The major deport owners (DAPMAN) that we normally rely on some of them up to now have not given us the rate that they are going to sell their product. So now, I want to try to get Nigerians to understand where we are right now.
“And the remaining product that we have in our filling station, already since yesterday we authorised all our marketers to start selling the product so that there will be no issues.”
