An Abia High Court sitting in Bende today October 25th commenced Contempt Proceedings in Suit No HB/3/2024 against PDP i.e Senator Samuel Anyanwu( National Secretary PDP),Allwell Asiforo Okere PH.D( Chairman Caretaker Committee Abia State PDP) and Kenneth Madubuike ( Secretary,Caretaker Committee,Abia PDP).
The Court also reminded parties to the case that d restraining order it made on July 23rd 2024 still subsists until final determination of the substantive matter.
The Court on July 25th 2024 restrained the Defendants either by themselves,their representatives,servants,agents,assigns or howsoever called from holding or carrying on the PDP Congress in Abia State on 27/7/2024 or to reschedule it to be held on any other date or location pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice already filed.
The Court also on the same July 25th restrained the Defendants by themselves,their representatives,servants,agents,assigns or howsoever called from taking any decision or giving any directive to further extend the already expired Tenure of the last State,Local Government and Ward Executive Officers of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice already filed.
In a deliberate slap to the face of the Court,all the Caretaker Committee members of Abia State PDP were all members of the immediate past SWC.Appointing them as Caretaker Committee is an attempt to circumvent the Order of the Court. It is clear that the membership of the Caretaker Committee is a breach and flagrant disobedience of the restraining order of the Court.
Also,the Congress which Pdp purports to be having in Abia State is also a flagrant disrespect to the Court and unbridled disobedience to the restraining orders of the Court.
It means that all the actions taken by PDP in appointing a Caretaker Committee for Abia State Pdp and in purporting to conduct Congress are all nullify and exercise in futility.
The Court categorically stated that her restraining orders given against PDP on July 25th 2024 subsist,stands and has not been lifted.
