Breaking: Kidnapped Kaduna female doctor regains freedom, 10 months after

From Kaduna state comes a report that a kidnapped female resident medical doctor, Ganiyat Popoola, has regained her freedom.

This was revealed this on Thursday morning by the President of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), Dr Tope Osundara.

Popoola, who works at the National Eye Centre in Kaduna state, was kidnapped by bandits in December 2023.

A Registrar in the Department of Opthalmology at the National Eye Centre, Popoola was abducted alongside her husband, Nurudeen Popoola, who is a military officer and her nephew, Folaranmi Abdul-Mugni who lives with them.

Blueprint reports that the kidnappers had earlier demanded a whopping N40 million ransom, which was paid after which they released her husband on March 8, 2024, and still refused to release Dr Popoola and her nephew.

Dr Popoola and her nephew were however freed on Wednesday evening, bringing an end to their terrifying ordeal in the hands of their abductors
