The National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to train one million youths in the country.
The program themed โOne Million Youths in Insuranceโ is in line with the presidentโs directive to create more jobs and empower the youth.
According to the NAICOM Commissioner Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, โYouths would be empowered with knowledge and best practices to be able to participate in Insurance and boost youth entrepreneurship by offering financial protection and peace of mind, across the 774 Local Government Areasโ.
Omosehin said through this channel, the insurance industry would impact other sectors and accelerate Nigeriaโs financial inclusion drive.
He thanked the Minister of State for Youths Comrade Ayodele Olawande for his commitment towards the project, optimistic that the project will be a clear win for the youths.
In his remarks, the youth minister, Jamila Bio, said Nigeriaโs liberation is hinged on the 60 per cent population of the youth.
He said, โNigerian youths will be sensitized to know the importance of insurance, foster entrepreneurship, and create employment opportunities across all 774 local government areas of the countryโ.
