Fire Erupts At Federal Ministry of Works Headquarters In Abuja

A minor fire broke out at the Federal Ministry of Works headquarters in Abuja, on Friday, around 11:30 am.

The incident, according to some staff of the ministry who preferred anonymity, said it originated from a faulty circuit breaker in the Electrical Control Room located on the ground floor.

Confirming the incident, the Ministryโ€™s Director of Director Press and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed, in a statement he issued in Abuja, said the fire broke out from Block A of the ministry.

His statement also quoted the ministryโ€™s Station Commander of the Federal Fire Service, Mr Kekai Bekebi, to have said that his team responded promptly and managed to contain the fire using available extinguishers.

He added that a successful evacuation exercise of staff members was also carried out.

Also speaking, the Director of Human Resource Management, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi, confirmed that there were no injuries, casualties, or loss of important documents during the incident.

He commended the staff for their conduct throughout the emergency.
