Nigerian Afrobeat artist Oxlade recently shared that he feels more appreciated in Ghana than in his home country.
During an interview, the singer opened up about his decision to collaborate with Ghanaian hip-hop icon Sarkodie on his debut album, Oxlade from Africa.
He also addressed previous statements he made on X, where he expressed frustration over being blackballed by some industry veterans.
The singer explained that his remarks stemmed from his frustration with those who try to wield undue influence and control in the Nigerian music scene.
“If I’m being honest with you, Ghana has shown me more love than Nigeria.
“I hate the mindset of people trying to play god. When they feel like they can determine your trajectory. Sometimes they feel I see them outside and I don’t greet them well,” he said.
