Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring equitable distribution of developmental projects across all parts of the state, as outlined in the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2025 Budget.
He emphasized that no part of Ogun State would be sidelined, with projects evenly distributed among the three senatorial districts, following the precedent set in the 2024 budget.
Speaking during a town hall meeting held at the Bisi Rodipe Event Center, Ijebu-Ode, the governor, represented by Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, lauded stakeholders for their contributions during the consultation process for the 2024 budget.
He announced that several critical road projects had been approved for reconstruction in Ogun East Senatorial District.
The roads include the Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road, Igbeba-Eid praying ground to Prison road, Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode, and the Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo road.
Abiodun noted that, despite fiscal challenges, the government had begun the construction of over 64 kilometers of rural roads across the state, designed to improve rural accessibility and enhance agricultural productivity.
“In continuation of our infrastructural development, our administration recently approved the reconstruction of key roads in Ijebu-Ode and other areas of Ogun East. Despite the fiscal pressures and increased government spending, we are committed to ensuring that no part of the state is left behind,” the governor said.
“Our goal is to promote rural development and strengthen the state’s economy.”
In addition to infrastructural development, Governor Abiodun disclosed that his administration, in collaboration with the Lagos and Oyo State Governments, had acquired 25 patrol vans and surveillance drones to enhance security along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
He also highlighted that the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, nearing completion, would further position Ogun State as a major logistics hub in the sub-region.
Speaking on the administration’s road construction achievements, Abiodun stated, “We have successfully constructed over 600 kilometers of roads across the state, with 243.3 kilometers completed in Ogun East. These include major projects like Chris-Ogunbajo-Erunwon road, Palace road, and Balogun Kuku road in Ijebu-Ode.”
Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, provided insights into the 2023 town hall meetings, revealing that 377 inputs were received, of which 90%, representing 340 inputs, were included in the 2024 budget. He assured stakeholders that the remaining 40 inputs would be included in the 2025 budget and the MTEF.
Governor Abiodun concluded by thanking stakeholders for their continued collaboration, pledging to maintain transparency and inclusivity in the state’s development planning.
