Labour Party Will Win November LG Polls In Abia, Lawmaker Boasts

The member representing Ohafia south state Constituency Hon. Nwoke Kalu Mba (LP) has declared that the performances of Governor Alex Otti in the last two years is enough to consolidate the Labour party in the state following the numerous projects he has undertaken.

Hon. Nwoke in a chat with with newsmen, said the good work of the governor will be a enough reason for Abians to re-elect him in 2027 general election, noting that if the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and the Progressives Peopleโ€™s Alliance (PPA) with the manner they administered the affairs of the state and were able hold on for twenty four (24 ) years then the Labour party can rule the state for 32 to 34 years.

The lawmaker stated that theyโ€™re a lot of good programmes from the Ottiโ€™s administration yet to be unleashed for the betterment of Abians.

Answering questions regarding the preparedness of the Labour party in the upcoming local government election, Hon. Nwoke informed that the party is prepared and will definitely win the election.

He assured that the election will be held on November 2, and the party will take it all.

The lawmaker disclosed that the Labour Party in Ohafia has enough followership to win any election.

According Nwoke โ€œFor followership, we have enough followeship in Ohafia.

โ€œSecondly, Ohafia has never had it so good before in terms of politics. As you may be aware we have the number two citizens of the state.

โ€œWe have a House of Representatives member. We have an avalanche of government appointees.

โ€œSo, thereโ€™s no other way that we have to show appreciation than to come out en masse and vote massively for the Labour Party candidateโ€.

He said as a critical stakeholder and elected legislator from Ohafor ward and the accountant general who is also from his village (Asaga Community) were given directives from the party to meet with other stakeholders and come up with a consensus councillor candidate.

While condemning the imposition of a councillor candidate in his ward by the deputy governor, Hon. Nwoke said it is very unfortunate that the number two citizen of the state is trying to interfere in his Ohafor ward but assured that the issue will be ratified.

โ€œOur consensus councillor candidate who we have presented to the party had already purchased his nomination and interest form and had filled it and returned back to the party but only for us to hear the next day that the number two man had substituted the name with another personโ€™s name.

โ€œWe are condemning it. All Ohafor ward LP and none LP members are condemning that because they are seeing it as a lay down to my person being an elected house member, i should have a sayโ€.

He alleged that the person who was used to substitute the consensus candidate from his ward was a former PDP member who recently joined the Labour party.

Hon. Nwoke accused the councillor candidate of being at the forefront fighting the Labour Party in the last general election and queried why he should be given the ticket for Ohafor ward.

He stated that stakeholders from his ward had written a petition to the Governor Dr Alex Otti and also made some publications in a protest against the imposition of the candidate.

He however appealed to the Governor to urgently look into the matter to save the Labour from the impending crisis.
