Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe to battle Liverpool, Girona for out-of-favour Real Madrid star

Turkish giants Fenerbahçe are closely monitoring the situation of Real Madrid midfielder Arda Güler, as the young star becomes increasingly disillusioned with his limited playing time in Spain, Soccernet.football reports.

Güler, who left Fenerbahçe for Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, has found opportunities scarce at the Bernabéu, making just 10 appearances this season without scoring or assisting.

As the January transfer window approaches, Fenerbahçe are reportedly preparing to bring Güler back on loan to provide him with more game time.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik as per DailySabah, the Jose Mourinho-tutored Istanbul-based club is keen to secure a temporary deal with Real Madrid, but they face competition from across Europe.

Premier League club Liverpool, German champions Bayer Leverkusen, and Spanish side Girona are among the teams showing interest in the talented midfielder.

Liverpool, in particular, are rumoured to be considering a loan offer with an option to buy, while Leverkusen, who missed out on Güler last summer, are expected to renew their efforts.

Real Madrid are open to loaning out Güler, given his struggles to break into the starting XI.

Fenerbahçe president Ali Koç is reportedly ready to step in personally to negotiate the midfielder’s return, hoping to give him the minutes he craves.
