NESG Unveils Portal To Track Impact Of Economic Reforms Programmes

The Chairman of, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Olaniyi Yusuf on Monday announced the launch of a live policy tracker to monitor the economic reforms implementation.

He noted the challenges hindering the government from achieving the โ€œSustainable Development Goalโ€ targets on gender parity, to include cultural norms, limited access to reproductive health services, and economic inequalities.

He said, โ€œThe NESG has set up a live policy tracker to monitor the implementation of past summit recommendations and to ensure alignment between the summit recommendations and the national outcomes.

โ€œDespite multiple progress in achieving the sustainable development goals that focus on gender equality, significant barriers persist.

โ€œIntercessional challenges, including cultural norms, limited access to reproductive health services and economic inequalities continue to hinder gender parityโ€.

He recalled that the 2023 summit focused on igniting growth, ensuring sustainable investments and also reviving national dignity.

He said, โ€œThe recent approval by the Federal Executive Council of the economic stabilization bills from the Presidential Committee on fiscal policy and tax reforms is a testament to the governmentโ€™s commitment to enhancing fiscal sustainability and economic governance.โ€

Expressing optimism on the 2024 summit Yusuf said, โ€œAccelerated economic growth will require the moderation of the growth rate of our population, but will also require deliberate inclusion of women as active participants in the economy across all the states of the federation.โ€
