NSCDC Clears Air: Vehicles for Security, Not Compensation for Election Support

The Rivers State command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed circulating reports alleging that the ten operational vehicles recently allocated to the command were a form of compensation for aiding the state governor during the October 5th local government elections.

Speaking at the NSCDCโ€™s head office in Port Harcourt, the commandโ€™s Public Relations Officer, Olufemi Ayodele, clarified that the vehicles were donated prior to the election.

He emphasized that the donation, similar to one made to the Nigerian Police Force, was intended to enhance security operations aimed at curbing crime and criminality in the state.

Ayodele stressed that the NSCDC remains an apolitical body, focused solely on its mandate to protect critical infrastructure and ensure the safety of both state and federal assets.

The command, he assured, is committed to serving the public interest and urged citizens to disregard the misleading information spreading across social media.

โ€œWe remain focused on our core duty, which is the protection of lives and properties. The vehicles were provided to support our operational capacity in fighting crime, not as a reward for any political involvement,โ€ Ayodele reiterated.

The NSCDC Rivers State command is calling on the public to rely on verified information from official sources and avoid falling victim to misinformation.
