The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially kicked off its governorship campaign for the November 16, 2024 election in Ondo State.
Key members of the PDPโs National Working Committee, along with prominent party leaders, arrived in Akure on Monday to demonstrate support for the partyโs candidate, Agboola Ajayi.
Ajayi, a former deputy governor of the state, is expected to capitalize on this momentum to strengthen his connection with voters. His campaign emphasizes leadership experience, economic vision, and strong grassroots backing, which the party believes make him the ideal candidate for the governorship.
Among the party leaders present were Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also serves as Chairman of the PDP Governorsโ Forum, and Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State and Chairman of the PDP National Campaign Council for Ondo State. Both governors arrived in Akure to spearhead the campaign flag-off and express their unwavering support for Ajayi.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State was also in attendance, adding his voice to the growing list of PDP leaders united behind Ajayiโs candidacy.
Governor Makindeโs presence is seen as a symbol of the partyโs solidarity and determination to secure victory in the upcoming election.
The campaign launch signals a crucial step in the PDPโs efforts to regain control of Ondo State. The party is counting on Ajayiโs reputation and the collective strength of its leadership to resonate with the electorate and propel it to victory on November 16.
In a statement, the party highlighted that this gathering of high-profile leaders reflects the PDPโs unity and commitment to delivering good governance to the people of Ondo State.
The campaign will focus on addressing key issues, including economic development, job creation, and infrastructure improvements, which Ajayiโs team believes are central to the needs of the electorate.
With the campaign now in full swing, the PDP is poised to make a significant impact as the countdown to the election begins.
