The Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr Ekong Edet Boco, has said 10,517 ad-hoc staff and officials have been deployed for the local government and ward elections in Cross River State.
The elections will be held on Saturday, November 2.
Boco said 9,843 ad hoc staff have been trained, with three of these staff members assigned to each of the 3,281 INEC-recognized polling units across the 18 LGAs of the state.
In addition, 460 supervisors, 18 returning officers, and 196 collation officers were trained and will be involved in the elections, he said.
The CROSIEC chairman debunked rumours that the election results had already been predetermined.
โThese are the blank result sheets and other documents to be used during the exercise. It is not true that the results of the elections have been written already before the elections,โ he stressed.
He disclosed that all ad hoc workers have subscribed to oaths of allegiance and secrecy.
โWe hope that all officials assigned to the elections will conduct themselves well. We will not tolerate any misdemeanours from officials,โ he said.
