The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Chidi Chidebe as its new chairman.
Naija News reports that Chidi emerged as the party leader on Thursday following a congress convened at the Women Development Centre in Awka.
Chidebe, who previously served as the PDP Youth Leader in Anambra, received 1,080 votes, surpassing Amechi Onowu, who garnered 960 votes.
Charles Anierobi was appointed as the Deputy Chairman, while Ebele Onunkwo was elected as the partyโs Secretary.
Ifeanyi Ossai, the Deputy Governor of Enugu State and Chairman of the Anambra PDP Congress Committee encouraged the newly elected Chairman to focus on rebuilding, restoring, and reconciling all dissatisfied party members within the state.
Ossai emphasized the importance of Anambra to the partyโs success, stating that victory could only be attained through unity among all members, and he urged the new leadership to collaborate with those who ran for office but were not successful.
โLast week, when we failed to conduct the congress, I assured PDP members in Anambra that it would be free, fair, and transparent. I am happy that this came to fruition,โ he said.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared that the All Progressive Congress (APC) has torn the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the November 16th governorship election in the state.
Naija News reports that Aiyedatiwa said this during his campaign tour of Igbobini, Kiribo Igbotu, and other communities in the Ese-Odo council areas of the state.
While urging the residents to exercise their franchise for the APC in the upcoming election, the Governor said his administration had initiated many projects and infrastructure in the state.
Aiyedatiwa said all political gladiators in the PDP are currently with the APC.
He said, โI want to thank you for your patience as we gathered here today. I salute your love, unity, and support for us and the party. I will reciprocate this gesture after the election.
โNo doubt, we have initiated many projects, and we will do more. Our roads, schools, and hospitals are receiving attention. We have also ensured the stateโs security.
โWe are also employing more teachers in the school. So, come November 16, you must troop out en mass and vote for our party (APC) in the election.
โI want you to use our vote to chase away other political parties. As you know, all the gladiators in the PDP, are now with us.
โWe have torn the umbrella of the main opposition party into shreds. In this coming election, your vote must be for the APC.โ
