The new acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yayari Mohammed, has been hailed for his decision to hit the ground running in the party.
The spokesman of the opposition lawmakers’ coalition, Ikenga Ugochinyere, in a statement in Abuja, said, “The decision of the new acting chairman demonstrates his understanding of the urgency to reposition the party for greater electoral success ahead of the 2027 elections.”
According to him, it shows that the National Chairman understands the urgent desire of members of what was once the biggest political party in Africa to sanitize the system, restore internal democracy, and bring peace and cohesion back to the party.
Ugochinyere, who represents Ideato North and South in the House of Representatives, pointed out that the Acting Chairman’s swift actions have rekindled hope among the PDP family.
Ugochinyere said his group in the House would support the new acting leadership in its resolve to ensure rapid reform of the party, while reacting to the chairman’s acceptance speech.
