A Joint Security Forces of the Army and Police commenced a manhunt for the suspected murderers of two police officers on Thursday at Uruagu, Nnewi North local government area of Anambra State.
According to Anambra State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement on Thursday, the murdered police officers were on investigation activities in the early hours of Thursday.
He said the gunmen on sighting the police operatives started shooting sporadically and threw an improvised explosive into their vehicles which led to the death of the officers.
Ikenga however implored members of the public and and any eyewitness to the crime to come forth to help to police unravel the case.
He said: โJoint Security Force, begins Manhunt Operation on armed men who murdered two police operatives on investigation activities in the early hours of today 3/10/2024 at Uruagu, Nnewi North.
โPreliminary information reveals that the armed men started shooting sporadically on sighting the police Operatives and threw an Improvised explosive into their Operational vehicle. Unfortunately, two of the operators paid the supreme price when the vehicle caught fire.
โGiven the above, the Command calls on members of the Public especially the eyewitnesses and other sundries to aid the ongoing Police operations in the area.โ
