Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a 32-year-old man, Dahiru Musa, at Dorayi Quarters in Kano.
This was revealed in an official statement issued by the police command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, on Wednesday.
The tragic case emerged after Musa’s brother reported him missing and raised suspicions about one of his close associates, leading to the discovery of a premeditated crime.
“On September 29, 2024, at about 7:30 pm, a resident of Dorayi Quarters, Kano, complained that his brother, Dahiru Musa, had gone missing. He expressed strong suspicions regarding Aliyu Adamu, 22, of Gaida Yan-Kusa Quarters, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State, who was the last person in contact with the deceased,” SP Haruna stated.
Acting on this report, police detectives swiftly apprehended Adamu on September 30. During interrogation, Adamu confessed to planning the murder with his friend, Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20, of Mandawari Quarters.
The suspects lured Musa to Adamu’s home under the guise of discussing a land transaction. According to Haruna, they served the victim poisoned food, and after he became unconscious, they stabbed him to death. They then wrapped Musa’s body in a sack and dumped it in an uncompleted building near Adamu’s residence.
Their motive, Haruna revealed, was to seize Musa’s landed property. Adamu had already obtained the documents to the deceased’s land, indicating a calculated plan to defraud him.
Further investigations led to the arrest of a third accomplice, Sadiq Sunusi, 19, who allegedly conspired with Abdulsalam to burn Musa’s body with petrol, attempting to destroy evidence. This act was carried out after Adamu had already been detained.
The charred remains were discovered and transferred to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where an autopsy is being conducted.
“All three suspects are currently in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation,” Haruna confirmed.
In response to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, thanked the public for their cooperation in the case and urged residents to be cautious, particularly when conducting business in unfamiliar or isolated locations.
The murder of Dahiru Musa has left the Dorayi community in shock, with the police’s prompt action highlighting the critical role of public assistance in solving such heinous crimes.
