PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has dismissed five ministers, reassigned 10 others, and nominated seven new ministers for Senate approval.
This move follows public pressure for a cabinet reshuffle, driven by dissatisfaction over rising inflation, economic hardship, and insecurity.
Among the sacked ministers are Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (Housing and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development). New nominees include Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs), Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs), and Jumoke Oduwole (Industry).
Tinubu also made structural changes, replacing the Ministry of Niger Delta Development with the Ministry of Regional Development, which will oversee all regional development commissions. The Ministry of Sports Development was scrapped, with its responsibilities transferred to the National Sports Commission. Additionally, the Ministry of Tourism was merged with the Ministry of Arts and Culture.
Former Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, was appointed as Special Adviser on Public Communication, and Shehu Dikko was named Chairman of the National Sports Commission.
Tinubu thanked the outgoing ministers and urged the new appointees to commit fully to driving Nigeria’s growth.
