Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Ecuador to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup with a game to spare.
Shakirat was the star of the show, netting a brace with goals in the 34th minute and stoppage time. Harmony Chidi added to the tally in the 54th minute, while Peace Effiong’s strike in the 66th minute sealed the impressive win.
This marks the second time the Flamingos have scored four goals in the tournament, leaving them with six points out of a possible nine and a strong position heading into the next round.
