Unity Bank Sends Message To Customers Amidst Merger Talks With Providus

Unity Bank Plc is pledging better service to customers as the bank continues merger talks with Providus Bank Limited.

The Managing Director/CEO of Unity Bank Plc, Mrs. Tomi Somefun said the bankโ€™s efforts to prioritise its customers translate to an exceptional partnership for better service.

The CEO remarked in a message commemorating the 2024 customer service week.

Somefun expressed her gratitude to the bankโ€™s clients for their ongoing trust and loyalty, acknowledging that it has been a driving force behind the bankโ€™s growth and success.

The comments come in the wake of a planned merger between the lender and Providus Bank.

The Central Bank of Nigeria in August revealed that it has approved the merger in line with the provisions of Section 42 (2) of the CBN Act, 2007.

โ€œThe Central Bank of Nigeria has approved a pivotal financial accommodation to support the proposed merger between Unity Bank Plc and Providus Bank Limited. This strategic move is designed to bolster the stability of Nigeriaโ€™s financial system and avert potential systemic risks.

โ€œThe merger is contingent upon the financial support from the CBN. The fund will be instrumental in addressing Unity Bankโ€™s total obligations to the Central Bank and other
stakeholders. It is unequivocal to state that the CBNโ€™s action is under the provisions of Section 42 (2) of the CBN Act, 2007.

โ€œThis arrangement is crucial for the post-merger organisationโ€™s financial health and operational stability.โ€

Unity Bank said it prioritises its customers in its business, adding that its customers are the core of its banking business.

The CEO highlighted the bankโ€™s ongoing commitment to innovation and modernising existing systems, announcing that new tools and strategies will be introduced in the coming months to enhance the customer experience further.

โ€œWhether itโ€™s through improved digital platforms or personalized services, we are committed to enhancing the way you bank withย us,โ€ย sheย added.
