US Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, on Thursday lauded former President Olusegun Obasanjo, describing him as a treasure trove of knowledge that anyone can tap into by visiting him.
Mills gave the admiration when he visited Obasanjo at his Pent House in Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where he acknowledged the library as a symbol of hope for Nigeriaโs future.
In a press statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the visiting Ambassador hinted that he had a viable and open discussions with the ex-president during the period.
After about an hour private session, Mills embarked on a tour of the edifice before departing the complex, saying that it was fascinating.
โIt captures the real moment in time, when there is so much hope in Nigeria. And, I think we all want to see that come back. It is also a slight of history for people to see.
โIt was very viable, I had a open and frank discussion with the former President. He is a very good friend of the United States and we always learn with a visit to the former President Obasanjo.
Obasanjo, however, said that since the Ambassador reported in the country in August, it has been a very busy schedule to host him and it was therefore pleasant to be his guest today.
