The newly elected Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State, Elder Amah Abraham, says as part of measures to bring the PDP back on track, the Party will be unveiling its โshadow Governmentโ which is the largest in a democratic setting to ensure that the ruling Party is put on check.
Elder Amah stated this on Monday, at the PDP Secretariat Umuahia, shortly after the inauguration of the new Executives who emerged after the November 3rd State Congress of the Party.
Amah said the essence of establishing the Shadow Government was not to attack the State Government unnecessarily, but to be saddled with the responsibility of constructive interface with the Government by proffering solutions on ways to bring good Governance.
He also informed that in the coming weeks, the party would unveil the โAbia Agenda Magazineโ which would be the mouthpiece of the Party, adding that he would work closely with the team to ensure that Abians are informed appropriately on happenings in the State.
โWe are mindful of the challenges that await us ahead. In the next few days, we will unveil a brand new shadow government that will take over the responsibility of running the most proactive shadow government in any part or any region of Africa.
We will have the equivalent of all the ministries, both in commissioner and other appointments, people who will be shadowed with the responsibility of interfacing with the government of the day and putting them on check and making sure that at all times they deliver nothing short of good governance to the people of other states. We are committed to that,โ Amah said.
While announcing the dissolution of the PDPโs Elders Council, Amah revealed that an Elder Statesman, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu would assist the Party in nominating new members of the Council.
He also stated that the former Deputy Governor of the State, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, would assist the PDP to come up with a blueprint on how to facilitate the reconciliation of aggrieved members in the State.
Speaking after administering the oath of allegiance on the new Executives, the South-East Legal Adviser of the PDP, Barr. Ukpai Ukairo, congratulated the newly Inaugurated Exco and reminded them of the huge task ahead. He charged them to work hard to ensure the party reclaims power from the State come 2027.
