The Acting Chief of Army Staff COAS, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, made his maiden operational tour to Sokoto on Sunday, charging the military personnel to be committed to safeguarding the nation.
Addressing the personnel stationed in Gongono village in Tangaza Local Government Area of the State, the Army boss said he was in the state to boost the morale of the military personnel.
According to him, the primary objective of his visit is to assess the living conditions of his men, urging them to continue with their duty of securing the country.
During his address, Oluyedeย also charged the soldiers to embrace challenges and call on the community people to support the army in discharging their duties,
He however emphasised the importance of fostering community support to ensure the armyโs success.
โWithout community support, we cannot succeed, and if we donโt succeed, Nigeria as a whole cannot be secured,โ he stressed,
The Army Chief also stopped in Masallaci Gongono district of Tangaza local government council and Illela, a border town with Niger Republic.ย
His appointment follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโs nomination, filling the position left vacant by Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.
