The Anambra State Government has suspended the operation of Salitz Ventures over alleged human right abuse.
The suspension was contained in a letter signed by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Environment, Tochukwu Obotogha, on behalf of the Commissioner.
According to the letter, the suspension is coming on the heels of a viral report of an assault on the former president of Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Akaneme Okechukwu on Friday by operatives of Salitz Ventures.
The letter reads: โIn light of recent compelling viral reports concerning an unfortunate incident involving Mr. Akaneme Okechukwu, a former President of the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, who was brutally assaulted and injured by your operatives on Friday 11th October, 2024, the Anambra State Ministry of Environment has initiated a comprehensive investigation.
โConsequent to these circumstances, this letter serves to:
- Suspend all operations of Salitz International Ventures with immediate effect pending the full investigationโs outcome.
- Require your full cooperation with the ongoing investigativeโจproceedings.
- Inform you that the Anambra State Waste Management Authorityโจ(ASWAMA) has been directed to temporarily suspend your waste management operating licence, pending the outcome of the investigation
โThe State Government maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of human rights abuse in the discharge of official duties by any of its agents.โ
