Anambra Govt Suspends Salitz Ventures Operation Over Alleged Human Rights Abuse

The Anambra State Government has suspended the operation of Salitz Ventures over alleged human right abuse.

The suspension was contained in a letter signed by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Environment, Tochukwu Obotogha, on behalf of the Commissioner.

According to the letter, the suspension is coming on the heels of a viral report of an assault on the former president of Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Akaneme Okechukwu on Friday by operatives of Salitz Ventures.

The letter reads: โ€œIn light of recent compelling viral reports concerning an unfortunate incident involving Mr. Akaneme Okechukwu, a former President of the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, who was brutally assaulted and injured by your operatives on Friday 11th October, 2024, the Anambra State Ministry of Environment has initiated a comprehensive investigation.

โ€œConsequent to these circumstances, this letter serves to:

  1. Suspend all operations of Salitz International Ventures with immediate effect pending the full investigationโ€™s outcome.
  2. Require your full cooperation with the ongoing investigativeโ€จproceedings.
  3. Inform you that the Anambra State Waste Management Authorityโ€จ(ASWAMA) has been directed to temporarily suspend your waste management operating licence, pending the outcome of the investigation

โ€œThe State Government maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of human rights abuse in the discharge of official duties by any of its agents.โ€
