The government of Equatorial Guinea has sacked the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), Baltasar Ebang Engonga.
Engonga was dismissed after about 400 sex tapes featuring him and several women were discovered during an investigation.
Real Equatorial Guinea reported that President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo ordered Engonga’s dismissal following the disclosure of the intimate videos.
Citing Decree No. 118/2024, dated 4 November, the newspaper stated that Engonga’s dismissal was due to alleged misconduct in office, as well as family and social behavior deemed incompatible with public office.
The leaked videos, which reportedly include encounters with several women, including high-profile personalities and his cousins, have sparked widespread controversy online.
First Lady Constancia Mangue Obiang expressed outrage over the scandal during a meeting with Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue. Mrs. Obiang called for immediate government intervention to uphold the dignity of Equatoguinean women and protect their privacy in the digital age.
