Three people lost their lives on Monday in a tragic accident at Ayetoro Market, Lagos, after a truck reportedly suffered brake failure.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that the truck, which was descending from Ita-Opo, lost control and collided with a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before crashing into the market.
LASTMAโs post detailed the sequence of events: โA fatal accident occurred due to a brake failure of a truck descending from Ita-Opo. It hit a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before ramming into the Ayetoro Market/Complex.โ
The accident left three people dead, and their bodies were transported to the morgue at Epe General Hospital. Emergency services quickly responded, with a tow truck on site to remove the wrecked vehicles and clear the area.
In the aftermath, LASTMA has diverted traffic in the area to ease the movement of vehicles.
