Court Bars Rivers APC From Conducting Congresses

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has barred the All Progressives Congress (APC) from conducting elective congresses in the state.

The court, presided over by Justice G.V. Obomanu, has granted an interim injunction restraining the party from holding Congresses.

In Suit No: PHCI3859/CS/2024, filed by Okwu JoeBrown Ndiike, Peace Oganu, and Samuel Uchegbule, the claimants, represented by Chief E.N. Ebete, Esq., alleged they were denied participation in the partyโ€™s nomination process despite paying for forms.

The court ordered APCโ€™s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, and other officials to maintain the status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

Justice Obomanu issued the order on November 21, after hearing submissions from Chief Ebete.

Specifically, the court restrained APC from organising or conducting elective congresses without including the claimants holding congresses scheduled for November 23 and 30.

The party was also barred from accepting or inaugurating winners of Ward Executive Committeesโ€™ congresses held on November 16.

The matter has been adjourned to December 3, for further hearing.
