Nigerian music superstar Dvid Adelekae, widely known as Davido, has announced plans to donate ₦300 million to orphanages across Nigeria through his Davido Adeleke Foundation (DAF).
The singer shared the news on his official Twitter account, stating, “Once again, my birthday this year, we’re donating to orphanages and a charity that helps young people stay away from drug abuse and addiction. This year is ₦300m. Details to follow soon.”
Davido established DAF in 2022 with the mission of supporting vulnerable children nationwide. Since its inception, the foundation has collaborated with various charities, raising and distributing over ₦200 million to orphanages, positively impacting the lives of 13,818 children by July 2023.
Reaffirming his commitment, Davido noted his passion for sustainable charitable efforts, saying, “Through this foundation, we have raised millions of Naira and dispersed much-needed funds to hundreds of orphanages, significantly improving the lives of countless children.”
His philanthropic journey gained widespread attention in 2021 when he raised over ₦200 million from fans and supporters after sharing his bank account details online. The funds, supplemented with an additional ₦50 million from Davido, were donated to orphanages and the Paroche Foundation, a charity combating drug abuse and addiction.
This new pledge continues Davido’s tradition of using his platform to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations.
