Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri alongside his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, today led Bayelsans to God in the State’s Annual Thanksgiving service at the Ecumenical Centre, Igbogene,Yenagoa.
The Governor, in his remark, noted that Bayelsans have every reason to thank God, especially for the peace and security in the State.
“We have every reason to thank God. What about the peace and security we enjoy in this state?
My dear people of Bayelsa, we, as a government, have enjoyed your support, and it is because of your support the things that we have been able to do. And we will continue to do more,” Governor Diri stated.
On the blackout in Yenagoa, Governor Diri, said his administration had intervened in the repairs of the vandalised towers in Ahoada by Transmission Company of Nigeria and that the government is investing in new gas turbines to boost electricity distribution in the State.
Apostle David Zilly-Aggrey of the Royal House of Grace International was the guest minister on the occasion.
Dignitaries present in the 13th Thanksgiving edition were, the Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo; immediate past governor of the state, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson; wife of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience Jonathan.

Hon. The Thanksgiving programme was initiated and passed into law by the immediate past governor of the state and senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, Henry Seriake Dickson, in 2012.
