A Kidnap victim, Chukwunonso Nzekwe has been rescued by the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, NHFSS at Nimo Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra.
This was revealed by the Deputy Commander-General of NHFSS in charge of Intelligence, Dr John Metchie, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Metchie said the rescue was done on Saturday in joint operation of NHFSS with Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra Brigade, Ochabrigade.
He said that the rescue operation was initiated following a report of a kidnapping that occurred during a prayer session held by the Catholic Church parishes in the Nimo community and the victim, a building engineer, was abducted during this time.
He further stated that subsequent to the abduction, the victim was transported to Agu Urukwelora village in Egbengwu Odeleke Nemo and noted that the keen observation of the NHFSS intelligence officer in the village led to the discovery of the suspects in the nearby bush.
He said: โHe informed a retired Superintendent of Police who in a swift response with other officers apprehended one of the kidnappers who hails from Nasarawa State and resident of Enugwu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area.
โThough his partners escaped after serious gun battles, the victim was rescued.
โA locally made gun was also recovered, and the suspect was quickly handed over to the police at the Rapid Response section at Awkuzu for discreet investigation.โ
