‘Lawyer by Day, Rapper by Night’: Falz Reveals Struggles of Juggling Dual Careers

Singer and entertainer Falz has shared a glimpse into his intriguing journey of juggling two distinct worlds: practicing law by day and rapping by night.

Recounting his experience of leading a double life, Falz opened up about the challenges he faced while navigating his dual careers.

Speaking on the Madam Joyce Podcast, the rapper revealed how legal constraints complicated his unconventional path.

“There was a time I was in court, living a double life at the time lawyer by day, rapper by night,” Falz began, painting a vivid picture of his unique routine.

He recalled a moment in court that underscored the delicate balance he was trying to maintain.

“So when I announced my appearance, ‘With profound respect, my lord, the name is Folarin Falana, appearing for the plaintiff,’ the judge lowered his glasses and asked, ‘Counsel, are you not the one doing something else on the side?’”

The sonorous singer explained that within the legal profession, an unspoken rule of conduct discourages lawyers from pursuing other activities while practicing law.

“There is an unspoken rule of professional conduct within the legal practice where you are not supposed to do other things”.

He noted, shedding light on the tension between his legal and artistic ambitions.
